Spent the 2nd day of Chinese New Year watching
"Kimi ni shika kikoenai"-loosely translated as "Calling You" online.
This movie was never shown in Singapore and I happened to find it online.
Never regretted watching it.
If you liked "Somewhere in Time", "Ill Mare" and other similar concept movies,
you will like this as well. This movie is based on the same titled novel by
popular writer Otsuichi
Cast: Narumi Riko (acted in Honey and Clover, one litre of tears, etc)
Koide Keisuke (acted in Cyborg She, Nodame Cantabile, etc)
Synopsis:
Shy, quiet, and unsure of herself, Aihara Ryo (Narumi Riko) doesn't quite fit in anywhere. Though she wants to make friends, she has trouble speaking up and holding a normal conversation like everyone else. It seems that whenever she talks, the words just don't come out correctly. Gradually, Ryo has gotten used to living life in silence as a lonely and introverted student. With no one to talk to, Ryo also has no need for a cell phone. Longing for friends to talk to, she creates a cell phone in her mind for imaginary phone conversations, and much to her surprise, one day Shinya (Koide Keisuke) picks up on the other side. For the first time in her life, Ryo has found someone

Movie Marathon (26/Jan/09)
Monday, January 26, 2009
Did something on Chinese New Year's day which I've never done before A glorious, delightful and touching romantic comedy that unveils the truths behind the year’s most anticipated celebrity wedding, THE WEDDING GAME begins when Jack (Christopher Lee) publicly proposes to Vikki (Fann Wong) during the live telecast of a regional awards show. Surprised but happy, Vikki accepts – much to the delight of the public who has been following and rooting for the two superstars’ much publicized romance. What the public doesn't know is that the entire love affair is an elaborate and meticulously planned ruse designed to further the careers and fortunes of the two ‘lovebirds’ by their ambitious managers May and Tom. In reality, Jack has disliked Vikki from the first day they met and vice versa! But through it all, the two stars keep up with the charade. Both of them are sure they have nothing to lose – not when they’ve signed a pre-nuptial agreement to protect themselves and their fortunes. Just when everything is going so well, an incident rattled some of the fans and the media. There is doubt now lingering about the authenticity of this love match. Will they succeed in fooling a nation, and come away richer but not wiser?
~ Movie Marathon. Booked tics for "Bride Wars" at 5:10pm,
went down to the cinema at 2.10pm and bought tics on the spot
for "The Wedding Game" at 2.15pm.
I was never a "Fann" fan or "Christopher" fan.
But my sis and I decided to give this movie a try just to see what
the hype was about and also because we don't really wanna watch
the other Singapore Movie (*wink wink* should know which one).
Overall it was quite a light hearted movie with some funny jokes.
Not a must watch but not a bad movie.
Fann Wong had quite a no of pretty outfits and wedding gowns in the movie.
Synopsis:
Next, was Bride Wars. Watched this because of Anne Hathaway.
Liked her since her "Princess Diary" days and also because me and
my sis kind of liked "Chick Flicks". Overall, it's funny and light-hearted movie.
It makes you think of your best buddies and realise that friends will always be
there for you no matter what the situation may be. And they will be there to
share your ups and downs. Loved the Vera Wang wedding gown that
Kate Hudson wore in the movie!
Synopsis:
Liv (Kate Hudson) and Emma (Anne Hathaway), best friends since childhood, are always there for each other, through good times and bad. Even their respective bridal engagements happen within hours. Together they plan their weddings, each to take place at New York’s ultimate bridal destination, the Plaza Hotel. But a clerical error and subsequent clash in wedding dates pits the two brides against each other in a competition that quickly escalates into all-out war.
Suddenly realised that both movies sort of have the wedding themes.....

New Taiwanese drama that I'm watching
败犬女王 ~ Cast:Ethan Ruan Jing Tian and Yang Jin Hua
败犬女王 is a term to describe female in their 30s who are still single.
Synopsis taken from Dramawiki:
What will happen when Shan Wu Shuang, a 33 year old beautiful, hardworking yet single woman, meets Lucas, a 25 year old romantic and handsome regular worker? There is an 8 year age difference – what kind of story would then be created? A story that will let us laugh and let us cry.
